Howdah Stories; Brighter Futures - Anjali's Story

Giving back is the core of our brand, and we want to share the stories of some of the incredible children we support

Anjali Parida is in Primary School in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha. She travels 2km to school every day by bicycle. English is her favourite subject and she love to read!

One of Anjali's favourite pass times is to visit the zoo because of the botanical garden. She takes part in the schools science exhibition and aims to become a doctor in the future. Her teachers and parents are very encouraging and supportive of her dream.

Anjali has been a beneficiary of the school lunch program for the past 3 years now. Her favourite meal is Rice with Soya mutter curry and millet. She enjoys the food because it is hot, nourishing and tasty. Her parents also are very happy with the meals provided by Akshaya Patra as it eases off their concern of nutrition and there is unlimited food been served. They have also observed that she has been regularly attending school which is encouraged by the school lunch scheme, giving her the energy to learn and study towards her dreams of becoming a doctor one day!

Every time you buy a pack of Howdah Snacks, we give a FREE school lunch to a child in need throughout India, through our partnership with the incredible charity Akshaya Patra. Hunger is one of the biggest barriers to education. Hungry children cannot concentrate, and many parents can't afford to educate their children because of the cost of school meals. Our school meals are often the only nutritious meal they’ll get in a day so, by encouraging these children to go to school and feeding them properly, we give their parents the motivation to support their children's education and, most importantly, we can help the children themselves to get the skills they need to build brighter futures.
