Throughout July, Howdah Snacks have collaborated with our friends at Beer52 to provide 200,000 free school meals to disadvantaged children in India!
Beer52 is the UK’s most popular beer club, providing specially selected, unique beers from all over the world, to their loyal customers. Their mission is to, of course, find the best microbreweries across the globe with their team of beer experts but also to create a passionate community of beer lovers and support small, independent breweries.
Here at Howdah, we love the ethos of building a community and supporting small, so for us it was the perfect partnership. Our snacks go perfectly with a cold beer, especially our Onion Bhaji!
Our collaboration with Beer52 will allow us to provide 200,000 free school meals to youngchildren in India, through our charity partners Akshaya Patra Foundation. Free school meals are a lifeline to many families across India. Hunger is one of the biggest barriers to education and hungry children cannot concentrate. Many parents can't afford to educate their children because of the cost of school meals. India alone is home to a third of the world's malnourished children – 3000 of whom die every day from hunger-related illnesses. Without the means to pay for school meals, 15 million Indian children drop out of education and end up in child labour.
By encouraging these children to go to school and feeding them properly, we give their parents the motivation to support their children's education and, most importantly, we hope to help the children themselves to get the skills they need to build brighter futures.
